KENT MICHAEL SMITH
















Born in Winfield, Kansas in 1976.
Adopted at the age of three days old, Kent grew up in and around Emporia, Kansas. Kent completed his B.F.A. in Painting from Emporia State University. While at Emporia, Kent learned under the tutelage of Richard Slimon, and eventually graduated as the Most Outstanding Graduating Senior from the School of Art. Kent accepted a teaching fellowship to continue his education at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. In 2003, Kent completed his M.F.A. in Painting from Ohio University. While completing his Master’s, Kent also found employment as the Assistant Registrar/Preparator at the Kennedy Museum of Art on the campus of Ohio University. Following graduate school, Kent and his wife, Melissa, moved to Kansas City, Missouri. Currently, Kent is the Curator of the Epsten Gallery/Kansas City Jewish Museum, and fulfills his love of teaching as an Adjunct Professor of Art in Painting at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kansas.
